On the impeachment case
If you look at it from the point of view of certain grounds invoked (failure to declare assets and liabilities, that one about his wife’s appointment), the impeachment case against CJ Corona is not really an attack on the judiciary. It’s an attempt to make this guy accountable. Fine, well, and good.
But if you look at it from the point of view of majority of the grounds, it actually is an attack on the judiciary. It is an attack on decisions made by the Supreme Court as a body. It’s the congress effectively saying that those decisions are wrong, at least wrong enough to make them grounds for impeachment…which means they’re really really wrong. (Who are you to say that Congress?)
What they could’ve done is discussed the articles of impeachment and waited maybe a day or two before having it signed and passed on to the Senate. Then they would’ve gotten all the flimsy grounds out and built a more robust, and less politically charged (kahit papano) case which would sit better with the people (at least those who are questioning it).
I wrote about my thoughts already here
and recently released was CJ Corona’s answer to the impeachment case
Even if the guy is a bit shady, doesn’t mean you have to be, Noynoy.

Intercourse by Tom Hunley
As we made love, our scars met,
grazing long enough for mine to say
“He tries to hide me,”
and for yours to reply
“I know I embarrass her.”
“He never learned how to swim,” whispered my scar.
“She got picked last in gym class,
then cried into her pillow,” replied yours.
Just then, a huge wound opened in me.
You touched it. It closed.
I was filled, fully healed, and I knew
I would never be able not to love you.

I remember this poem at such odd times in my life.
Excerpts from a birthday dinner. :)

When dating a med student
Me: I’m feeling a bit feverish, and my legs hurt a bit. :(
Expectation
Him: Aww that’s okay Honey. :* I hope you feel better soon. <3
Reality
Him: Aww Honey, when the legs hurt, it’s called myalagia. :)
(To his credit, he did follow it up with good advice as to how to deal with the sickness, and lots of mushy stuff which came later. <3 Haha, and yes I find his nerdiness adorable.)
You learn a new thing everyday
Something I learned from Va yesterday (aside from making Margaritas)
Terror is the feeling you get before whatever you’re afraid of is going to happen.
Horror is the feeling you get after it has already happened.
As in:
I was terrified as I clicked on the link to my grades for the first semester of law school.
and
I was horrified at the sight of my Criminal Law grade.
You see, surgical and medical interns are kinda like two rival gangs. Not real gangs, more like those cheesy gangs you see in Broadway musicals.
